ABOUT REBUILDING TOGETHER SANDOVAL COUNTY

Rebuilding Together Sandoval County (RTSC) is a volunteer-led non-profit organization that provides no cost home rehabilitation to low-income homeowners in Sandoval County. RTSC aims to preserve affordable housing and prevent homelessness in Sandoval County by partnering with the community to rehabilitate the homes of elderly, disabled, and low-income residents so that they may continue to live at home in warmth, safety, and independence.

RTSC was founded in 1999 as a 501(c)3 non-profit organization originally called “Christmas in April”. From the beginning, RTSC has been dedicated to helping its neighbors in Sandoval County who could not afford to make essential repairs and modifications to keep their homes safe and habitable. The original goal was to bring together volunteers once a year, in April, to do a home improvement project together. From that modest start, it has grown into an organization that provides year-round assistance to preserve affordable homeownership and revitalize neighborhoods by providing home repairs and modifications free of charge to seniors and low-income homeowners in Sandoval County.

WHERE RTSC IS TODAY

Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Executive Director will join the RTSC team during a critical time in its organizational growth. RTSC has grown from an annual budget of about $25,000 in 2020 to $450,000 this year. In 2020, the organization made the strategic shift from using mostly volunteer labor to primarily using contractors, with volunteers helping periodically. RTSC is working toward serving 100+ homeowners annually.

RTSC currently has four contactor team members: Program Manager (¾-time), Grants Manager, Operations Manager and Communications Coordinator (each of whom are part time). The organization also has a very engaged board of directors who help manage much of the work - with the board president currently acting as an interim Executive Director. The goal now is to continue professionalizing its operations by adding a paid Executive Director to lead the team.
